This EMBO Workshop aims to connect researchers studying the CRISPR-Cas immune defense system with researchers developing and applying genome editing tools in biomedical research and the clinics. In addition, several clinical trials based on CRISPR-Cas genome editing technologies have started to treat patients suffering from genetic diseases.
In recent years this tool has been employed to generate transgenic microorganisms, plants and animals for research and biotechnological applications.
